Campers will take classes suited to their age level in dance, acting, singing and more! (Scroll down for a detailed description of these classes). While we will focus building performing arts skills, we recognize that summer is all about having fun and sometimes kids just need to let loose with camp games and activities. We have created a curriculum that includes both the performing arts and all the fun activities that we loved about summer camp when we were young.
Students will also spend their camp days creating a performance of a well-known musical. They will use the skills they learned from their classes to put on a performance tailored to each campers talents! This amazing performing arts experience will culminate in a fun and vibrant production! which will be filmed and sent out to family and friends!
Imagination, creativity, focus, teamwork and fun are the framework for The Green Room's acting classes. Students will get to become lots of fun characters from oompa loompas, to a Who from Whoville, to the Queen of Hearts to Mufasa the king of the jungle! We will explore creative ways to use our bodies and voices to tell our stories on the stage! Acting class is a place for imaginations to really run wild and we encourage our campers to take chances as they bring their characters to life!
Campers learn how to "work the stage" with high energy routines to popular music from artists such as Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, as well as to musical theater classics from shows such as Wicked, Annie, and many more! In our Jazz/Musical Theater dance class students will learn the styles of Fosse, and Robins while working together as an ensemble. Students will practice warmups, techniques, and exercises as they perform routines with friends that are simple and fun!
SETS AND COSTUMES CLASS
Let the good times roll in our set / arts & crafts design class. Our campers get to explore their creative sides while crafting sets for places like the Jungle of Nool, or a wacky candy bubble room. We will also paint 3D structures, create fun crafts, & much more! Our supportive staff will encourage students to come up with solutions to design challenges and think outside the box, as well as help them learn to be resourceful with the tools they are given.
Whether your child is new to theatre or an experienced performer, they are sure to have a blast during Rehearsal Week! Students will be given a script from a popular musical at the beginning of the week.
Throughout the camp day, we will work on staging the scenes, learning the music of the show, and choreographing dance numbers. Students will play games that will help them develop their characters, make bold choices on stage, and learn clever ways to memorize lines, songs, and dances.
This is the most exciting day of camp! Our performers come together as an ensemble to put on the show they've been rehearsing all week.
Friends and family are invited to come in on Friday at 2pm to attend the performance. The show includes full costumes and makeup as well as imaginative sets and customized props.
This final day is a big moment for all of the campers involved as they get to showcase their talent and hard work!
